FAQ
FLAC Editor FAQ
Everything you need to know about editing FLAC files online.
What is a FLAC file?
FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) is a lossless compression format. It shrinks file size without discarding any audio data, making it the standard for high-fidelity music collections.
Does editing a FLAC file lose quality?
No. FLAC is lossless, so editing and re-exporting as FLAC preserves every bit of the original audio. Quality is only reduced if you intentionally export to a lossy format like MP3.
Can I convert FLAC to MP3 after editing?
Yes. Change the export format to MP3 and choose a bitrate. You can also export as WAV, M4A or OGG.
Why are FLAC files so large?
FLAC is lossless, so it is much larger than lossy formats like MP3 but about half the size of uncompressed WAV. That is the trade-off for perfect fidelity.
Is the FLAC editor free?
Yes. Editing and exporting FLAC files is completely free with no signup or watermark.
